Ideathons
Outcomes & Information
Multi-day experiences which engage large quantities of students to ideate around a specific problem or challenge being experienced by your organization.
Ideathons typically range from 1-5 days in duration, and are focused primarily on leveraging student talent, innovation, and creativity to generate outside-of-the-box ideas that take a unique approach to solving your organization’s challenge or problem.

Catalyst Challenge with Lakeridge Health
Over 8 days, 90 undergraduate students developed solutions to healthcare-related challenges. Students tackled real-world problems through interdisciplinary collaboration, expert mentorship, professional development, and hands-on learning experiences.
Lakeridge Health got the hands-on opportunity to mentor the students and provide expert insight while gaining fresh perspectives from student innovators.
Culminated in a pitch competition where Lakeridge Health judged the pitches and offered feedback, recognizing impactful solutions and engaging directly with emerging talent.
Winners earned the chance to incubate their ideas with the Brilliant Catalyst’s Business Incubator, gaining access to continued mentorship, funding, and networking. Winning teams are currently working on bringing their solutions to life!
Winning teams further validated their solutions through a Lakeridge Health tour and a lunch with the organization’s leadership.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Each project is flexible based on the desired timelines, budgets, and desired solution from the partner, but typically projects adhere to the following timelines:
- Ideathon can range from 3-8 days.
- Innovation Challenge is 1-3 weeks.
- Project-based is dependent on the partners’/project’s needs.
This program will accept applications from post-secondary students in Ontario who are legally eligible to work and are in good academic standing, with a GPA above 3.0.
The project and innovation challenge are open to postsecondary students in their third year or above. The ideathon is open to all post-secondary students!
There is a cost associated with each project, which will be dependent on the partner’s needs. Companies are encouraged to request a quote!
Yes, companies are welcome to apply to as many projects as they would like!
