DLF's mission is to foster entrepreneurship across Canada, helping realize the vision of supporting Black youth ages 16-39 who are currently under-represented in fields within the skilled trades in Southern Ontario.
The BEST program consists of a series of thoughtfully designed modules that empower participants to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking, acquire essential knowledge, and ultimately gain the confidence needed to venture into the world of skilled trades.

We encourage all of our participants to submit the optional Lean Canvas Micro-Credential Assignment. Doing so will provide you with some great practice in the ideation of your own skilled trades business and you'll also have the chance to earn a micro-credential from Ontario Tech University with a passing grade.

No, the program is designed to support participants who have little to no skilled trades experience.
As the program is self-paced, the time to complete often varies from participant to participant but on average the program can be completed in half a day.
The BEST program has been created with the purpose of guiding Black Youth ages 16-39 through the process of starting their own business in the skilled trades. As the focus of the program is to support diversity, all individuals are welcome to participate.
